With 1,800W of continuous output, the Anker SOLIX C1000 has more inverter headroom than many 1kWh-class stations, which makes it one of the smaller units that can start and run even a 10,000 to 12,000 BTU window air conditioner. Its roughly 1kWh battery, however, limits runtime to a few hours at best. This guide covers which ACs it handles, how long they last, and how its fast recharging can make a real difference during a heat-wave outage.

Specifications

Anker lists the C1000 at about 1,056Wh, 1,800W continuous output, a SurgePad mode for resistive heating devices up to about 2,400W, and fast AC recharging in about an hour. Anker’s surge figures for motor loads are not the same as SurgePad; check the current spec sheet and manual for the station’s peak rating for motor starts. Usable AC energy is approximately 900 to 950Wh.

Window AC compatibility and runtime

Window AC Running watts Start behavior on C1000 Runtime at full duty Runtime at ~55% duty
5,000 BTU ~450W Starts easily ~2 hours ~3.7 hours
6,000 BTU inverter ~250-500W Soft start ~1.8-3.7 hours ~3.3-6.7 hours
8,000 BTU ~700W Usually fine ~1.3 hours ~2.4 hours
10,000 BTU ~900W Likely, depends on start spike ~1 hour ~1.9 hours
12,000 BTU ~1,100W Borderline ~50 minutes ~1.5 hours

Start spikes vary widely. If a larger unit trips the station on start, try a soft-start kit or a smaller inverter AC.

SurgePad does not apply to ACs

SurgePad is intended for heating devices like hair dryers and kettles and works differently from a true surge capacity for motors. Do not expect it to help a compressor start. The C1000’s standard 1,800W continuous rating is what makes it capable with window units.

Using fast recharge to extend cooling

In a heat wave, the C1000’s roughly one-hour recharge is its secret weapon. If you can reach a working outlet at a workplace, a friend’s house, or a community cooling center, you can refill it during the day and run a small AC for a few hours in the evening. With solar, the C1000’s several-hundred-watt input can refill a meaningful portion of the battery on a sunny day, though it cannot keep up with an AC running at the same time.

Best practice for one small bedroom

  • Choose a 5,000 or 6,000 BTU inverter window unit sized to one room.
  • Pre-cool the room for an hour or two before bed, then switch to a fan.
  • Seal gaps around the AC, keep blinds shut during the day, and close the bedroom door.
  • Set the thermostat to 76 to 78°F to reduce compressor cycling.

Why the battery, not the inverter, sets the limit

It is easy to see 1,800W on the spec sheet and assume the C1000 is an air-conditioning machine. Output rating tells you what can run at the same moment; capacity tells you for how long. A 10,000 BTU unit at 900W is well within the output limit yet empties roughly 920Wh of usable energy in about an hour. For outage cooling, choose the AC by energy per hour, not by whether the station can start it.

Safety

Plug the AC directly into the C1000; avoid long, thin extension cords, which cause voltage drop and harder starts. Keep the station in a ventilated, shaded spot away from the AC’s hot exhaust. Never plug the station into a wall outlet to power house wiring; circuit-level backup requires a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician. If a gas generator recharges the station, it must run outdoors at least 20 feet from the house, never in a garage or on a porch.

FAQ

Can the C1000 run a window AC and a fridge at the same time?

With a small AC, output allows it, but combined consumption would drain the battery in roughly one to two hours. Alternate between them instead.

Does the expansion battery make overnight AC possible?

Anker has offered an expansion battery for the C1000 line; check current compatibility. Doubling capacity could make a small inverter window unit viable for much of a night at moderate duty.

Bottom line

The Anker SOLIX C1000 can start and run window ACs up to about 10,000 BTU, sometimes 12,000, thanks to its 1,800W output, but its roughly 1kWh battery limits runtime to one to four hours for small units. Use it for targeted evening cooling and take advantage of its fast recharge. Confirm the current spec sheet before buying.
